Get AI to do Your Browsing

  • AI offers direct answers, not just search results.

  • It saves time by summarising multiple pages into concise responses.

I have previously mentioned one of AI's greatest strengths in customer-specific solutions is providing direct answers instead of search results (often in replacement of the “search” feature on their web site or intranet).

Most of the current consumer-oriented AI products like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude will also do the browsing for you. Combining these two powerful features enhances one of the most common tasks we perform daily—research.

For example, I recently wanted to learn more about the charity of one of my readers. This clearly illustrates the difference between browsing a website and getting a direct answer. While all of the information that AI used came from the charity’s website, it was guided by my questions rather than requiring me to find the answers by clicking through various pages.

Another strength demonstrated here is the ability to summarise. In some cases, AI searched through five to seven pages but provided a concise summary. The cumulative time savings are easy to underestimate. Where I might typically spend half an hour clicking around a website to gradually understand what an organisation does, I can now achieve the same goal (at a high-quality level) in a fraction of that time.

This has become one of the biggest time-savers in my daily life using AI. If you aren't already taking advantage of this, I suggest you give it a try. If you're like me, you'll never look back.

Have you experienced significant time savings using any AI tool? Share your story by hitting reply—I’d love to hear about your experiences!
